3 Ways to Make Affirmations Work Better (even if you have doubt)

What are Affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements that can help improve one's mindset and
increase self-confidence. They can be repeated daily to reinforce a positive belief or
goal. Examples of affirmations include "I am capable of achieving my goals" or "I am
worthy of love and respect."

Louise Hay, in the 1970's first made affirmations popular in her book You Can Heal
Your Life. She discovered that many physical ailments are caused by the words we
say to ourselves. When we correct these words into positive statements
(affirmations) we can magically heal ourselves.
How do you properly use these powerful positive statements to create real change
in your life?

First you must understand that the "magic" behind affirmations is your
subconscious mind.
Your subconscious mind is bringing to you all your
experiences and, ultimately, what you want. Your subconscious mind always listens
to the words and images you give it to create what you want in the world. This is
called the "Reticular Activating System" which acts like a filter blocking out
anything except the words you give it. For example, if you want to buy a new car
and you are thinking about a red Jeep, your mind will show you red Jeeps all day
long. If you decide to get a Bronco instead in blue, now all you see are blue Broncos.
This Reticular Activating System in the subconscious mind has certain rules and
once you know them, you can properly direct it to bring you the life experience you
want. It's like a waiter at a sophisticated restaurant (the quantum field of infinite
potential) ready to take your order.
Rules of the Subconscious Mind (how it responds to you):

  1. It must respond to the words you use and the vivid images they create.

  2. It only responds to words in the present tense.

  3. It only responds to positive words and treats them as commands. It does not
    recognize negative words.

  4. It responds to what you are focusing on.

  5. It responds to repetition.

  6. It responds to what it thinks is true and familiar.

So when you create an affirmation you want to follow these rules for most success at change and manifesting what you want.

Here are sample affirmations that follow these rules:
I'm confident and capable of public speaking.
People listen to me and want to hear what I have to say.
I am confident and enjoy meeting new people.

It seems easy to apply all the rules of the mind except for Rule #6. When you don’t believe in what you are saying, you have doubt and negative feelings.

Here are 3 ways to make affirmations work for you even if you have negative beliefs:
    1. You must find and challenge your limiting beliefs. For example, if you have an
affirmation that says "I'm confident and capable at public speaking." and you
have a fear of public speaking, the limiting beliefs attached to that fear can be:
"I'm terrible at it", "I'm not good enough", "I have nothing important to say," are
going to block your mind because the beliefs are attached to emotions coming
from childhood, called "limiting beliefs." In childhood, we are dependent and
limited and we often form beliefs about ourselves which become permanent.
Challenge the limiting beliefs by asking yourself if these beliefs are true or are
they just limiting beliefs which are no longer true as an adult.
    When you were a
child, you weren't big enough, educated enough, verbal enough but now as an
adult you are educated, full-size, and have important knowledge and wisdom to
    share.

    2. Ask a higher-level question about your affirmations. For each affirmation, put
the words "Why am I ..." in front of them. For example: "Why am I confident and
capable at public speaking?" You direct your mind to instantly come up with
reasons, "I'm a professional with lots of information," "I have a good speaking
voice, " etc. . Write a list of all the reasons that immediately flow from your mind
so you can more easily challenge the limiting beliefs as you look at the list.

    3. Go to a Rapid Transformational Therapy ( RTT) Hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is the only way to directly communicate with the subconscious mind to uncover, understand and reframe these limiting beliefs while releasing the emotions associated with them. Usually after just one RTT session, you are no longer controlled by unexplained feelings and beliefs that sabotage your adult progress and growth. Your affirmations will work easily and you can finally live the life you want!
